Job overview
We are seeking a Senior Clinical Fellow in Stroke Medicine. This post forms part of the Lancashire teaching hospitals Overseas Registrar Development and Recruitment Program (ORDeR Program). This program is recognised by the GMC and the trust can sponsor successful candidates to gain their GMC registration through trust sponsorship.
The post provides unparalleled opportunities for personal and professional development, through participation in education, audit and research. You will work in our Comprehensive Stroke Unit based at The Royal Preston Hospital, integrated with the Neurosciences Directorate serving a population of approximately 1.5 million.
Candidates must ensure they can commit to being in the UK, ready to start work before the 1st October 2023.
Main duties of the job
As part of your duties, you will be expected to:
* Undertake supervised outpatient clinics and complete associated administrative duties.
* Provide cross cover for inpatient management and short-term cover of emergency leave or absence.
* Assume continuous commitment for patient care, ensuring adequate arrangements for leave and off duty periods.
* Promote high professional standards of clinical care.
* Maintain continuing education and professional development.
* Support colleagues in specialist nursing roles and allied health care professionals.
* Participate in medical student teaching and local departmental teaching, research, and audit.
* Participate in thrombolysis opportunities.
Although this is not a formal training post, the post holder will be allocated an educational supervisor.

Qualifications
* Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice
* MBBS or equivalent
* Minimum 3 years postgraduate training courses including one of the following: Master’s in medicine (MD) or Diplomate of national Board (DNB)
* Engaged in medical practice for three out of the last five years including the most recent 12 months
* IELTS – average score 7.5 (min 7 in each subset) or OET (B score)
* Evidence of research and/or publications
Experience and Skills
* Understanding of basic principles of audit, clinical risk management, and evidence-based practice.
* Understanding of clinical governance.
* Experience of managing neurology patients in acute and outpatient settings.
* Evidence of teaching skills.
* Previous experience of multi-disciplinary team working.
* Appropriate research experience and evidence of academic publications.
