Job summary Oncology and Haematology Location: Leicester Royal Infirmary Permanent - 37.5 hours per week - flexible working available. We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our motivated and enthusiastic team working on our Oncology and Haematology wards at Leicester Royal Infirmary and Leicester General Hospitals. We are seeking applicants who are team players and are enthusiastic to about working with patient going through a Cancer diagnosis and treatment. The Oncology and Haematology therapy team are responsible for delivering a service across the Osbourne building and assessment ward at UHL, these are based at Leicester Royal Infirmary. The team work with a range of patients receiving a new diagnosis, undergoing active treatment or supporting patients at the end of their life. You will be working alongside a large specialist Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) including Oncologist's, clinical nurse specialists and Palliative care professional's. This role requires advanced communication skills to support patients during this difficult time in their lives whilst going through treatment for Cancer. The Oncology and Haematology Therapy team provide personalisation of Therapy delivery focusing on what really is important to the patient and support timely discharges of patients. We are passionate about promoting independence and preventing deconditioning in the acute hospital. Main duties of the job You will demonstrate excellent communication, prioritisation and time management skills. This post will be suitable for a candidate who has a wide range of rotational experience, particularly with people with a Cancer diagnosis or a long term condition. Established respiratory physiotherapy skills would be of significant benefit in this role. You will join a supportive team including a Macmillan sponsored Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist in the Team. You will receive regular supervision, appraisal and be encouraged to be involved in service development, audit and research. You will be expected to support and supervise other staff as well as provide practice placements for students. The successful candidate would need to work Monday to Friday and agree to work on a weekend roster covering the acute medical wards.
