This is anexciting, new opportunity which gives you practical experience of generalmanagement and other leadership roles in General Practice. General managementrole includes people management, resource and budget management.
Working closelywith the practice Director and Practice Manager and consulting patients and thepublic on improving services.
We aim to equip youwith the skills and the confidence to be able to make a real difference to ourhealthcare services - with the fundamental aim of improving patient care. Thescheme is designed to give you a range of experience so that you can learn, developand move into more senior post in our organisation following completion.
Main duties of the job
As a management trainee, you will undertake two distinct placements over two years - one will be an operational role ensuring services are managed and delivered in the best possible way for our patients, and the other will be a placement focusing on quality and service improvements, or longer-term plans and projects.
This means you will gain exposure across the practice, equipping you with the knowledge and experience to progress your career post-scheme.
As well as stretch projects and unlimited senior management engagement, you will be exposed to a wide range of work, touching on all elements of general management.
This will encompass practical experience in:
1. Organisational strategy
2. Change management
3. Project management
4. Financial management
5. HR management
Each placement role will provide different challenges and varied stakeholders.
Everything you do will have a focus on delivering the best, high quality care for our patients.
This is a two-year training programme, which is aimed to grow and develop your work-based skills, an essential component of the programme includes studying towards a Level 7 Senior Leader Apprenticeship.
With hard work and commitment at the end of the scheme you will have gained the knowledge and skills and a professional qualification which will enable you to be able to apply and progress in more senior level roles with greater complexity, and higher earning potential.

Quality & Continuous Improvement (CI)
To preserve and improve the quality of our output, all personnel are required to think not only of what they do, but how they achieve it. By continually re-examining our processes, we will be able to develop and improve the overall effectiveness of the way we work. Induction training
On arrival at the practice all personnel are to complete a practice induction programme; this is managed by the Practice Manager.
Learning and development
The effective use of training and development is fundamental in ensuring that all staff are equipped with the appropriate skills, knowledge, attitude and competencies to perform their role. All staff will be required to participate in, and complete mandatory training as required by the role, as well as participating in the practices training programme. Staff will also be permitted (subject to approval) to undertake external training courses which will enhance their knowledge and skills, progress their career and ultimately enable them to improve processes and service delivery.
Collaborative working
All staff are to recognise the significance of collaborative working. Teamwork is essential in multidisciplinary environments. Effective communication is essential, and all staff must ensure they communicate in a way that enables the sharing of information in an appropriate manner.
Service delivery
Staff at Queen Square Medical Practice must adhere to the information contained within practice policies and regional directives, ensuring protocols are always adhered to. Staff will be given detailed information during the induction process regarding policy and procedure.
Security
The security of the practice is the responsibility of all personnel. Staff must ensure they remain vigilant at all times and report any suspicious activity immediately to their line manager. Under no circumstances are staff to share the codes for the door locks with anyone and are to ensure that restricted areas remain effectively secured.
Professional conduct
At Queen Square Medical Practice, staff are required to dress appropriately for their role. Administrative staff will be provided with a uniform whilst clinical staff must dress in accordance with their role.
Leave
All personnel are entitled to take leave. Line managers are to ensure that all their staff are afforded the opportunity to take a minimum of 25 days leave each year, (inclusive of bank holiday allowances, pro rata for part time staff) and should be encouraged to take all their leave entitlement.
