Warehouse Chargehand Job Overview:
The Warehouse Chargehand will be responsible for running the day-to-day activities of the warehouse, ensuring the efficient, accurate, and safe handling of goods. The Chargehand will oversee the receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods, while ensuring that all warehouse operations meet company standards for productivity, quality, and safety.
Warehouse Chargehand Key Responsibilities:
* Supervise Warehouse Operations: Manage warehouse operations to ensure efficient workflow, including the unloading, sorting, storage, and distribution of goods.
* Inventory Control: Assist with inventory management, ensuring accurate stock levels and regular stocktaking procedures.
* Quality Control: Ensure that all products are handled correctly, are stored safely, and meet quality standards.
* Health & Safety: Monitor warehouse safety, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Conduct regular safety checks and ensure safe practices.
* Equipment Management: Ensure warehouse equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) is in good working condition and that operatives are trained to use them safely.
* Problem Solving: Handle operational issues that arise, including delays, discrepancies, or operational inefficiencies.
* Reporting: Report on warehouse operations, performance metrics, and any incidents or accidents to the Warehouse Manager.
* Process Improvement: Suggest and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve safety within the warehouse.
Warehouse Chargehand Key Requirements:
* Proven experience in a warehouse or logistics role, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory capacity.
* Knowledge of warehouse operations, including stock management, order picking, packing, and dispatching.
* Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively manage and motivate a team.
* Good understanding of health and safety regulations and the ability to enforce these in the workplace.
* Forklift license or the willingness to obtain one.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing demands.
* Basic IT skills, including experience with warehouse management systems or similar software.
* A checkable history in strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Warehouse Chargehand Desirable Qualifications:
* Experience with inventory management or stock control systems.
* A first aid qualification or safety training.
* Knowledge of lean or continuous improvement techniques.
Warehouse Chargehand Working Conditions:
* Full-time role, with flexible working hours depending on the needs of the business.
* May be required to work overtime or weekends, particularly during peak times.
Benefits:
40 hours PW guaranteed on a desirable shift pattern, Monday to Friday 06.00am to 16.30
14.00 per hour (That's 15.69 per hour PAYE with holiday pay included and paid up front)
This role offers an attractive 40 hour per week pay of around 560 (627 inclusive of holiday pay) for the successful Warehouse Chargehand.
Successful candidate will have the opportunity to turn this role into a permanent position for themselves.
