MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES What will you be doing on the apprenticeship? As a Junior Production Coordinator Apprentice, you will gain hands-on experience in how content creation comes together, from concept to reaching the audience, in TV/ Audio or content for online. You will learn a wide range of skills which may include preparing for shoots or live radio studios and recordings; coordinating transport; booking kit and crews; issuing information the teams need via ‘call sheets’; assisting with the management of budgets and assisting with coordinating staff training; helping on the studio floor, in the TV gallery or on the BBC’s radio stations such as Radio 1, 1Xtra or Asian Network and ensuring that everyone gets paid All the while you’ll be learning best practice from expert BBC production management teams - making sure everyone has everything they need to film/record events; checking rules and regulations so that crews/teams can work safely and ensuring everything is documented, filed and in line with privacy and licensing policies. You’ll study for your industry recognised apprenticeship qualification, learning both on the job at the BBC and off the job with our chosen education provider. The academic study involves attending instructor-led workshops; tutorial sessions; presentations and group work. Throughout your apprenticeship, you will be asked to gather a portfolio of evidence and work on an End Point Assessment that demonstrates your learning, while working towards a level 4 apprenticeship qualification. This apprenticeship will give you a thorough knowledge and understanding of what it is like to work in Production Management and the media industry, which you can then utilise during your time at the BBC and afterwards in the wider industry. On successful completion of your apprenticeship, you will be able to apply for job roles such as a Production Management Assistant, Production Secretary or Production Coordinator both inside and outside of the BBC. This scheme starts in September 2025, and you will be on a fixed term contract which means your contract is for the duration of the apprenticeship only. The duration of this scheme is 17-months. A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE PLACEMENT BBC Sport From World Cups to Olympics, whether it’s Premier League, FA Cup, 6 Nations Rugby, International Cricket, Wimbledon or daily Audio and Digital coverage of all the big sporting stories on the radio, website and social platforms, BBC Sport is at the heart of the world’s major sporting events. Throw in our flagship shows such as Match of the Day or Test Match Special, and we truly have a portfolio to shout about. As a Production Coordinator Apprentice with BBC Sport, you can expect to work across a huge variety of content production areas such as TV & Audio, Digital and Journalism. You’ll be assigned to a team for the first few months while you get to know the department and learn about the role of a PC within Sport. As your confidence grows you will be assigned various tasks and encouraged to work around the department, so you get the opportunity to experience working on location and on live output. Tasks will include; Booking transport and accommodation Raising payments Creating call sheets Applying for accreditations/permits/visas etc Setting up filming shoots both UK and overseas Creating and managing small budgets BBC Sport is a great place to hone your event planning, organisational and project management skills. To be eligible for an apprenticeship at the BBC, you must: Be aged 18 or over when the apprenticeship starts in September 2025 By the start of the apprenticeship in September 2025, have lived in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA) for a minimum of 3 years. Be eligible to work in the UK full time for the duration of the apprenticeship contract. Not currently taking part in an apprenticeship scheme supported by the BBC or another organisation. Must be passionate about the production management side of making content.
