SWIFT Teacher Training aims to ensure that new teachers entering the profession have the knowledge and expertise to transform the lives of children and their communities.
We have Primary and Secondary one year courses, leading to QTS & PGCE.
Role Description:
This is a full-time, one year Trainee Teacher role. Our courses are designed by expert teachers so you can train to become a teacher with confidence.
As a Trainee Teacher you will:
* Work with the University of Nottingham to provide the PGCE element (taught in Devon).
* Receive excellent training through our expansive network of school placements, and practice close to home.
* Attend seminars and workshops, delivered through a mix of face-to-face and online sessions, so you can achieve the best work-life balance.
Our training communities celebrate the successes and qualities of trainees from diverse backgrounds and career stages.
SWIFT Teacher Training aims to provide trainees with the opportunities to:
* Develop a high level of expertise in phase and subject(s).
* Experience evidence-based training that brings together theory and practice.
* Engage in critical analysis of research through our PGCE.
* Belong to close-knit, supportive training communities.
* Prioritise approaches to teaching that are inclusive of pupils with SEND and EAL.
* Develop agency to bring about a fairer education for all pupils.
Be effectively prepared for the next phase of their career, including how to lead a good work-life balance.
Qualifications:
* Degree 2:2 or above.
* For secondary teacher training your degree should be related to the subject you would like to teach.
* Maths & English GCSE, Grade C/Level 4 or above.
* For primary teaching you also need Science GCSE Grade C/Level 4 or above.
Bursaries and Scholarships:
Postgraduate teaching bursaries and scholarships are available for the subjects listed below. You cannot receive both a teaching bursary and a scholarship. Please note eligibility criteria apply. The DfE have announced the following bursaries and scholarships for training in 2025/26.

* Computing: £29,000
* Design & Technology: £26,000
* English: £5,000
* Geography: £26,000
* Languages (French / Spanish / German): £26,000
* Mathematics: £29,000
* Music: £10,000
* Physics: £29,000
* Religious Education: £10,000
Scholarships:
* Chemistry: £31,000
* Computing: £31,000
* Languages (French / Spanish / German): £28,000
* Mathematics: £31,000
* Physics: £31,000
Please note tuition fees apply to the teacher training course. Subject to eligibility you may be able to apply for a student loan.
