Head of Maths - SEMH School
Location: Newbury, Berkshire
Salary: Up to £48,000 per annum
An exciting and rewarding opportunity has arisen for an experienced and dynamic Head of Maths to join a specialist school catering for children and young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
We are looking for an inspirational leader with a strong background in teaching and leading Maths, who is committed to improving student outcomes and creating a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in leading a department, a passion for helping students reach their full potential, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead and manage the Maths department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning.
2. Develop and implement a Maths curriculum that meets the needs of students with SEMH needs.
3. Drive improvements in student achievement and engagement in Maths.
4. Support and develop staff within the department, fostering a culture of continuous professional development.
5. Collaborate with senior leadership and other departments to ensure the holistic development of students.
6. Monitor and assess student progress, providing support where necessary to improve outcomes.
7. Ensure the department is well-resourced and operates effectively within the school's overall strategic vision.
The Ideal Candidate:
1. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a proven track record of teaching Maths, ideally within a SEND/SEMH setting.
2. Experience in leading a Maths department or team, with strong leadership and management skills.
3. Passionate about improving the lives and academic outcomes of students with additional needs.
4. Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
5. A collaborative leader who can engage and motivate both staff and students.
6. Committed to fostering a nurturing and inclusive learning environment for all students.
