Job Summary: We are looking to recruit a highly motivated, professional nurse to manage a high dependency ward. You will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of care are delivered, ensure the efficient running of the ward, effectively leading, motivating, supervising and directing staff to ensure that time and resources are managed through effective teamwork.
Main Duties of the Job
About you: As the Ward Manager you will be an RN with current NMC pin, preferably with previous experience working in a neuro-disability setting, and be Tracheostomy and Ventilator trained; however, training would be provided. You will be accountable for the delivery of our patient care in a way that is Caring, Safe, Effective, Responsive, Effective, and Well Led.
You will lead, inspire and motivate your team, providing supervision of others carrying out all aspects of the caring process, act as a positive role model and ensure the safe management of the ward by maintaining a visible and professional presence in a clinical setting and working closely with the wider Multi-Disciplinary team. You will have day-to-day oversight of staffing, resources, roster management, and workforce planning, as well as patient care.

Job Responsibilities
Overall Objective of Job Role: The Ward Manager is accountable to the Director of Patient Services for the smooth running of the ward. The post holder is responsible for ensuring attainment of agreed clinical standards and professional development supported by other senior nursing staff, Integrated Governance Lead, and the Director of Patient Services.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Clinical:
1. To be competent in identifying and acting on changes in patient condition, making safe, timely decisions appropriate to the situation.
2. Provide clinical expertise and knowledge to the nursing teams, participate in the direct nursing care of patients and collaborate with relevant external and internal groups in this provision.
3. To work with patients and the multi-disciplinary team to set realistic and achievable goals, acting as an effective key worker to allocated patients.
4. To manage a hospital-wide emergency situation effectively in accordance with the hospital business continuity plan, providing feedback and recommendations as appropriate.
5. To monitor clinical records both written and electronic, ensuring they are recorded timely, accurately, and legibly in accordance with hospital policy and national NICE guidelines.
6. Ensure effective communication to ensure nursing staff are aware of operational procedures, policies, and hospital developments to enable safe delivery of care.
7. Participate in the development of clinical and operational nursing projects and the development of policies and procedures to support practice.
8. To provide support to relatives, keeping them informed as necessary in line with patient confidentiality policy.
9. To demonstrate a sound knowledge of safeguarding and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DOLS) and the importance of this in people with complex disabilities and be confident in advising and educating staff as matters occur.
10. To manage nurses and nursing services by organising the duty rota and patient allocation, anticipating requirements when clinical activity increases/decreases.
