Key Responsibilities
1. Cost Management: Prepare budgets, cost plans, cash flow forecasts, and oversee cost monitoring and control. Handle payment applications, variations, and final account management.
2. Contract Administration: Draft, negotiate, and manage contracts, ensuring compliance with legal and company standards.
3. Subcontractor Management: Source, negotiate, appoint, and evaluate subcontractors. Approve payments and resolve disputes while ensuring compliance.
4. Project Monitoring: Lead procurement, tender preparation, and analysis. Monitor subcontractor performance, project progress, and budgets.
5. Leadership: Supervise and allocate workloads, mentor junior staff in finance and commercial functions.
6. Client Liaison: Act as the primary contact for commercial matters, prepare financial reports, and foster client relationships to secure repeat business.
7. Site Visits: Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, document variations, and liaise with project managers and site teams.
8. Compliance & Reporting: Ensure adherence to company policies, industry regulations, and health and safety standards. Assist with financial reporting, year-end procedures, and audits.
9. Growth & Development: Contribute to the continuous improvement of business processes and systems.
10. Additional Financial and Administrative Support: Collaborate with the Financial Controller on purchase/sales ledgers, reconciliations, and payroll processes, including CIS and IR35 compliance. Assist in managing asset registers, labour budgets, and financial reporting for projects.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual who meets the following criteria:
Experience:
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar position, with at least 1 year in a senior role.
* Familiarity with the construction industry and processes, including contracts, CIS, and retentions.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and construction-specific software.
Skills:
* Strong cost control, budget management, and project profitability skills.
* Excellent communication, relationship-building, and negotiation abilities.
* High attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
* Ability to adapt to new technology and construction methodologies.
* Calm and professional disposition with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment.
