Solvent Recovery Lead - Chemical Development At AstraZeneca, we work together across global boundaries to make an impact and find answers to challenges. We do this with the upmost integrity even in the most difficult situations because we are committed to doing the right thing. We continuously forge partnerships that help pursue world-class medicines in new ways, combining our people’s outstanding skills with those of people from all over the globe. Pharmaceutical Technology and Development (PT&D) are the bridge, which turns brilliant science into actual medicines that help millions of people. We work across the entire value chain, designing and delivering active ingredients, formulations and devices required to support new medicines and commercialisation of products. Chemical Development are responsible for the route design, process development and lifecycle management of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs). Approximately 25% of emissions from pharmaceutical companies can be attributed to the manufacture of APIs. The solvent used in manufacture and the disposal of this waste is a major contributor to the carbon footprint. One of our decarbonisation strategies is to recycle and reuse solvent in our manufacturing processes. We are currently recruiting a Solvent Recovery Lead to join our multi-disciplined department. Develop and lead a plan for the implementation of solvent recovery across our portfolio, using data to prioritize opportunities and work cross-functionally to ensure solvent recovery is implemented. Ensure understanding of the capability of our current API supply network (internal and external) to drive implementation short term and influence plans for future capability. Using cross-project information, waste stream analysis, and modeling to identify technology solutions. Setting yearly carbon metrics/KPIs for solvent recovery, tracking progress, and reporting this to the leadership team. Identification and business case development for science and technology programs that enhance our ability to deliver sustainable solvent recovery processes through an understanding of the evolving environment.
