An exciting opportunity has arisen for the challenging but rewarding role of Ward Sister / Charge Nurse on our Children's Medical Ward (D33).
D33 is a busy 12 bedded children's ward caring for children from 0-18 years and their families. The ward is predominately an acute medical and respiratory ward. The ward specialises in the care of children and young people with cystic fibrous as well as other long term medical conditions.
The successful applicants will need to be an inspirational leader who can motivate and develop a team. Excellent communication skills are essential to this role.
The post holder is required to be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (Children's Nursing) and hold a degree level qualification.

We will expect you to take managerial, clinical and professional responsibility for D33 and ensure the co-ordination and the development of a designated team of nurses that you will line manage.
You will work closely with the matron for medicine and other ward sisters within the medical footprint to ensure the provision of children emergency care is excellent and the patient journey is positive.
You will work in collaboration with the specialist teams including consultants, specialist nurses and the operational teams within the children's hospital which is critical to ensure services are running smoothly and waiting list targets are met as a whole team approach.
Nottingham Children’s Hospital is set within the vibrant city of Nottingham known for its many historical sites. The children’s hospital is housed within the Queens Medical Centre campus and has 116 inpatient beds across 8 inpatient wards covering all specialties.
We are a major trauma Centre, and the Children’s Critical Care unit works closely with the Emergency Department in providing front line care for trauma patients.

This role is to lead and manage the departments to maintain the high standards and the quality of care given to all children and young people. To ensure the safety and environment of the ward by providing performance report for the ward offering assurance that the ward is safe, effective, well- led, responsive and caring to the senior nursing team.
You will have effective leadership skills and the ability to be a positive role model is expected from this post at all times.
The post holder, will be expected to provide regular direct clinical care and through experience and knowledge be able to support the implementation of both clinical and nonclinical governance.
Working flexibly as a member of the ward team and supporting the ward clinically is expected in order to ensure standards are being maintained, evaluated, and where necessary improved.
