About the Role
The Bristol team at Callen-Lenz provides high integrity flight and mission solutions for Unmanned Aerial Systems and Urban Air Mobility ecosystems. We are looking for an experienced software verification engineer to complement the team of capable test engineers.
Within the role, you will contribute to the definition of the Software Verification Plan, test environment including test rigs, test cases, and verification procedures as required to verify embedded software for avionics systems, e.g., Auto Pilot, Flight Control, and Mission Systems, in compliance with DO-178C and DO-331.
Additionally, you will contribute to the set-up of the Hardware-in-the-loop test environment, using state-of-the-art equipment such as Speedgoat.
Role Responsibilities
* Propose verification strategy and contribute to the definition of the Software Verification Plan and test environment
* Contribute to the set-up of the Hardware-in-the-loop test environment utilizing Speedgoat and other test equipment as required
* Liaise with tool vendors and support the tool integration activity
* Perform Test Coverage and Structural Coverage analysis
* Perform Model Coverage analysis for design models, and Model Simulation for verification of the model
* Create and execute test procedures and generate test reports as per the configuration management plan
* Capture defects and anomalies in problem reports and propose solutions
* Write technical documentation
* Participate in peer reviews
* Work within a cross-functional team to achieve project goals
* Perform other related duties as required
About You
Skills:
Essential
* Experience of working to RTCA DO-178 and DO-331
* Working knowledge of embedded C programming
* Experience of model-based environments such as Simulink
* Experience of using a scripting language (Python or similar)
* Demonstrable experience in verification of safety-critical software
* Experience of hardware-level debugging
* Understanding of real-time software systems
* Experience in configuration management and bug-tracking tools
Desirable
* Experience of using Speedgoat within a test environment
* Familiarity with avionics communications protocols
* Experience using verification and analysis tools such as Rapita, LDRA, or similar
* Experience writing test cases in Simulink Test
Personal Attributes
* Must be a British Citizen or have an existing right to work in the UK
* Ability to hold Security Clearance – 5 years residence in the UK
* Ability to commit to occasional national and international travel
* Excellent communicator
* Excellent problem-solving ability
* Ability to work well in a team
