Role Overview
As a Pastoral Support Officer, you will play a crucial role in supporting attendance, safeguarding, and behaviour. You will work closely with our dedicated team to deliver and monitor the impact of individual and small group interventions, support the improvement of whole school attendance, and assist our Designated Safeguarding Lead.

Main Purpose of the Role:
1. Support all learners throughout the school day, contributing positively to their social, emotional, and mental well-being.
2. Assist pupils in lessons to ensure excellent progress and provide support to teachers as directed.
3. Contribute to high-quality pastoral and educational provision through administration, documentation, and communication.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Pupil Support: Assist pupils in lessons and on a 1:1 basis to develop their social and emotional skills.
2. Family Engagement: Arrange and attend home visits as necessary, fostering strong relationships with pupils and their families.
3. Attendance and Safeguarding: Monitor and intervene in attendance issues to improve overall school attendance.
4. Intervention and Strategy Implementation: Implement strategies and targeted interventions across the school.
5. Communication and Administration: Respond efficiently and courteously to queries from a wide range of people.
6. Reporting and Confidentiality: Report verbally and/or in writing to the Headteacher as required.
7. Outreach and Transition Support: Manage and attend home visits, supporting children and their families.
Desired Criteria:
1. Experience in an Alternative Provision or SEN setting.
2. A qualification or CPD in children’s mental health.
3. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

2. Tact and diplomacy in all interpersonal relationships.
3. Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships.
