Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Fire Alarm Service Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, servicing, and repair of fire alarm systems in a variety of settings, including commercial, industrial, and residential properties. This role requires a deep understanding of fire safety regulations, strong technical skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. The engineer will be based local to their office in Bournemouth and will be covering Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct regular maintenance and servicing of fire alarm systems to ensure they remain fully operational and compliant with safety regulations.
Fault Finding and Repairs:
Diagnose and rectify faults on fire alarm systems, ensuring minimal disruption to the client’s operations.
Carry out repairs and replace components as necessary, following all safety protocols.
Ensure all work complies with relevant industry standards (e.g., BS 5839) and local fire safety regulations.
Complete detailed service reports, maintenance records, and certification of systems.
Maintain accurate documentation of all inspections, tests, and repairs conducted.
.Qualifications and Experience:
Essential:
Proven experience as a Fire Alarm Service Engineer or similar role.
In-depth knowledge of fire alarm systems, including conventional and addressable systems.
Understanding of BS 5839 and other relevant fire safety standards.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
Full UK driving license
Desirable:
Certification in fire alarm systems (e.g., FIA, BAFE, or equivalent).
Experience with emergency lighting systems and other fire safety equipment.
Electrical engineering qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
Skills and Attributes:
Excellent technical and troubleshooting skills.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
Strong customer service orientation.
