Data Centre M&E Engineer

Our client is a dedicated data centre organisation, operating across maintenance, design & build, project management and consultancy. They seek to recruit a multi-skilled M&E engineer with experience working within and around critical services plant, based at one of their flagship data centre customers in the Farnborough area. This is a resident-based role, delivering planned & reactive maintenance to electrical, mechanical and general HVAC/building services systems.
Responsibilities:
1. Act as the primary engineering subject matter expert for both client and internal teams for site.
2. Perform planned and reactive engineering work, including daily, weekly proactive tasks, alarm response, fault finding, maintenance, repairs, and modification of equipment relating to electrical and mechanical systems.
3. Supervise all operational and maintenance activities to ensure compliance with SLAs.
4. Be responsible for technical service delivery governance, including audits.
5. Aid TSM, Operational services and sales team in identifying and supporting new sales opportunities.
Key Skills & Duties:
1. Assist technical manager in setting and implementing technical standards and best practices for site.
2. Provide customer-focused service as the team's engineering SME.
3. Ensure high standards of planned preventative and reactive maintenance.
4. Maintain critical electrical and mechanical equipment.
5. Possess a high-level understanding of the data centre environment.
6. Proactively evaluate all plant and equipment, suggesting improvements where appropriate.
Compliance:
1. Accurate recording and reporting of maintenance activity to ensure CMMS system is updated.
2. Manage access control and security measures.
3. Ensure the fire protection system is active and take necessary actions.
4. Maintain site records to meet compliance requirements.
5. Attend vendor meetings to discuss services and address any issues.
Day to Day:
1. Perform daily/weekly/monthly checks and site inspections.
2. Coordinate and lead preventative maintenance tasks and repairs.
3. Collaborate with internal and client team members on major repairs.
4. Coordinate and perform switching activities.
5. Maintain workplace safety practices and adhere to approved MOPs.
6. Ensure incidents are escalated and handled according to protocols.
7. Assist with capacity management and provide support to other teams as needed.
8. Participate in Out of Hours call out rota.
9. Other duties as required by Management.
Qualifications & Experience:
1. Electrical Trade Qualifications (or Degree Qualified).
2. Team-first mentality and willingness to learn and develop on the job.
3. Experience with BMS, UPS, STS, LV, HV, HVAC systems.
4. Keen interest in developing technical ability with a focus on electrical/mechanical controls.
5. Industrial, data centre, or mission-critical experience.
6. Experience in liaising with multiple disciplines to drive solutions in a critical environment.
7. 3rd party vendor operational management.
