Job description : We have an exciting opportunity in the School of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering for someone with a passion for advanced combustion diagnostics who is looking to use their skills in the combustion study of sustainable aviation fuels. Additionally, the post holder will carry out other duties that are appropriate to the post of a Research Associate at Sheffield, for example, providing support and supervision to less experienced researchers, and actively exploring new research areas and potentials for new research funding. The role provides an excellent opportunity to apply your knowledge of combustion diagnostics, chemical kinetics development, and/or numerical modelling of turbulent reaction flow and develop your transferable research and leadership skills. If you have a good first degree (or equivalent experience) in Mathematics, Physical Science, or Mechanical and/or Chemical Engineering, plus a PhD or be close to completion of a PhD (or equivalent experience) in the subject area or a closely allied discipline, you are encouraged to apply. Since the role involves significant collaborations with partners, you need to be willing and able to travel potentially overseas. You will also need to have a good knowledge and experience of combustion, chemical kinetic, and combustion simulation software. We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK. The University’s Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development. We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to the greatest effect.
