The Defence Business Unit has been experiencing significant growth in recent years. It is now going through a period of process consolidation to ensure deliveries are achieved in an efficient and process driven manner. There is a need for an operations performance manager to ensure operational capabilities are enhanced, including establishing the right controls. The role will be key in facilitating future growth. You will be responsible for ensuring the performance of the Business Unit is solidified and the right controls and KPIs are in place and monitored. Key Responsibilities Drive the optimisation of key and supporting processes to enhance productivity, reduce cost and improve lead times and quality. Identify and escalate risk, issues and opportunities to improve processes and deliveries, liaising with project teams, leaders and sponsors as required. Identify KPIs required to monitor and control performance and ensure deliveries take place on time and efficiently. Lead teams to successful problem resolution using Lean and Six Sigma tools. Identify and lead the coordination of Improvement projects throughout the Defence Team and liaise with shared services. Prioritise CI projects with Operations Director and provide regular communication of project status. Promote a culture of continuous improvement across Defence, working closely with all business stakeholders. Support various activities i.e. New Product Introduction for Production, Support and Supply Chain. Collaborate with departments such as Sales, Engineering, Delivery, Supply Chain, Quality or Trade Compliance with specific performance and process improvement focus. Support Supply Chain Resilience Improvement Initiatives. Knowledge, Skills & Experience Demonstratable experience of operational management, performance delivery and monitoring. Experience leading change management teams and projects. Building strong relationships across departments and collaborating with other teams to integrate change management activities into project plans. Engaging and influencing stakeholders at all levels with the ability to clearly communicate at all levels of seniority. Monitoring and reporting on project progress, adjusting strategies as necessary. Previous work experience within electro-mechanical assembly is an advantage. Experience in Lean / Six Sigma / Continuous Improvement tools and techniques. Experience troubleshooting issues and resolving complex operational problems. Experience in leading cross functional teams and collaboration across a business and in Line Management. Professional Qualifications: Black Belt Lean Six Sigma and advantage.
