Job Summary
Silvaco is looking for a software engineer to join our device simulation team in one of the company's offices in Europe. Working at the very center of the TCAD group, the Quantum Device Software Developer will help Silvaco develop and deliver high quality products and services. As a member of the TCAD group, you will design, implement, evaluate, and improve quantum mechanical physical models and methods for the simulation of semiconductor devices. The successful candidate will be an experienced software engineer with expertise in quantum simulation of semiconductor devices.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
As an integral member of a team of highly trained and experienced engineers, the successful candidate must also be able to:
1. Develop, support, test, and maintain simulation software tools.
2. Identify and understand limitations of existing software components.
3. Improve and develop simulation methodologies.
4. Develop and provide software solutions for physical models.
5. Identify, implement, and test new physical models for quantum optoelectronic and quantum transport device simulation.
6. Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
7. Communicate complex ideas and testing results effectively; both orally and written.
8. Work independently and solve problems on his/her own initiative.
9. Provide accurate and effective written documentation.
10. Demonstrate good communication and organization skills, with a logical approach to problem solving, good time management, and task prioritization skills.
Qualifications and Required Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
1. 4-7 years of experience in simulation of devices using quantum mechanical methods.
2. In-depth knowledge and understanding of semiconductor physics and quantum mechanics, in particular knowledge of bulk and envelope function theory, Schrodinger equation, Non-equilibrium Green's function (NEGF) methodology, light-matter interaction, and superlattices.
3. Strong proficiency in C++ and software design.
4. Experience in software development within teams (code sharing).
5. Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Creative problem-solving skills.
7. Experience in simulating semiconductor devices.
8. Good communication and organization skills, with a logical approach to problem solving, good time management, and task prioritization skills.
Physical Requirements
Candidate must be able to:
1. Spend prolonged periods of sitting.
2. Spend prolonged periods of typing.
3. Have clarity of vision at approximately 20 inches or less (working with small objects or reading small print), including use of computers.
4. Ability to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
