Jennifer Griffiths Recruitment are seeking a Health, Safety and Environment Officer for our client in the Bridgend area.
Role Summary and Primary Responsibilities:
The Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Officer is responsible for overseeing the Health & Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures within the organization. The primary role is to promote a positive safety culture, ensure compliance with safety & environmental regulations, aim to reduce the risk of workplace accidents, and review business processes to help reduce the impact on the environment.
Ensure and monitor that the organization complies to all applicable health, safety & environmental laws, regulations, and standards including but not limited to ISO45001 & ISO14001.
Prepare for and lead external HSE certification audits
Review and Conduct where necessary, regular risk assessments and identify potential hazards in the workplace.
Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and prepare detailed reports with findings and recommendations.
Develop and conduct HSE training programs for employees and contractors to raise awareness of health & safety and Environmental requirements.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations regarding emissions, waste disposal, and chemical handling.
Establish a clear process for reporting, investigating, and documenting accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions.
Lead incident investigations to determine root causes and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
Prepare detailed reports for management and regulatory bodies including RIDDOR, as required.
Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures.
Manage all first aid on site including stocking of stations and training requirements
Coordinate regular emergency drills (fire, medical, evacuation) and ensure proper functioning of emergency equipment.
Maintain and generate where necessary all HSE documentation, such as safety manuals, risk assessments, incident reports, and training records.
Attend meetings with management and external parties to discuss HSE performance and improvements.
Chair HSE meetings
Promote a positive safety culture by encouraging employee participation in safety committees and initiatives.
Liaise with other departments to ensure HSE requirements are considered and taken into account in all aspects of product design & purchasing through to end of life
Keep up to date with legislation and impending changes
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
Certifications: NEBOSH diploma or similar (certificate maybe considered), IEMA certificate in Environmental management
ISO14001 & ISO 45001 internal Auditor preferential but not essential
Experience: 3-5 years of experience in a similar HSE role, preferably in Manufacturing
Advantageous skills and experience:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to all levels within the organisation including Senior Leadership Team
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HSE reporting tools.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
The salary is £30 - £32k pro rata.
