Overview We are looking for an independent and process-driven individual to join our Data innovation team for a 6-month contract to work from our Newcastle office. This role will primarily provide assistant-level research support to help the team categorise (thematically code) large volumes of quotes and research notes. This data is currently being captured through interviews and surveys by Chambers’ core survey and interviewing teams. The role will also support the development and training of AI solutions to support this exercise which will be used in combination with human-led input. Main Duties and Responsibilities Supporting the processing of data from Chambers’ various research projects to enable the development of new product areas: Reading through high volumes of research notes and survey responses Identifying the themes which are highlighted in these responses Thematically tagging or coding these themes against various pre-determined lists of themes Making recommendations to add to or adjust theme lists as responses change over time Working alongside AI solutions to improve the accuracy and consistency of automated data tagging Supporting the wider team in feeding back findings and suggestions to improve our approach, including to technical colleagues supporting AI solutions Working to a high standard against output targets Skills and Experience Ability to get to grips with new concepts quickly High level of attention to detail and a methodical approach Discipline to work efficiently and consistently on repetitive tasks Ability to question and suggest improvements Desirable: Previous thematic coding experience Previous market research and/or legal market experience Prior experience of working with/analysing qualitative data Prior experience of using coding and/or market research software Experience of working with cross-functional teams Person Specification This role will suit an individual with an interest in primary research and an aptitude for working with qualitative data. The role requires a methodical and consistent approach to completing tasks, and an ability to focus on what at times will be repetitive work, efficiently. Whilst no prior experience of the legal market is required, the role will require the successful candidate to quickly get to grips with technical legal/business terms and concepts to enable them to understand the content they are reading. Following training, the successful candidate will also need to be able to quickly and consistently make decisions about the research outputs they are reading with limited requirement for hands-on support from other colleagues.
