CONSULTANT COMMUNITY PAEDIATRICIAN

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Community Consultant Paediatrician to join our Community Child Health service in Hillingdon.

This post is for a Consultant Paediatrician in Community Child Health and Neurodisability, with the opportunity to take up the role as lead for Safeguarding, SEND, and sensorineural hearing loss. You will work closely with other paediatric colleagues to provide safeguarding, (including child protection and Looked After Children) and neurodisability services.
Other areas of special interest are encouraged where they are consistent with the department’s responsibilities to deliver and develop services, in alignment with the Trust strategy and vision. You will share the overall clinical responsibility with the other community paediatricians to provide the highest standard of medical paediatric care for our patients.
You will be expected to work within the multidisciplinary team to provide a comprehensive community paediatric service within the Community Child Health service, covering responsibilities related to:
1. Clinical Activities:
Consultant-led pathways and clinics, triage/screening of referrals, clinical supervision to trainees, MDT clinical discussions or meetings, Child protection medical assessments.
2. Teaching:
Departmental teaching, teaching of paediatric trainees rotating within training posts, medical or other clinical students, regional teaching meetings.
3. Management and Leadership:
Quality improvement and service development, clinical governance, educational and management supervision.

1. Complete accurate and timely documentation of clinic consultations and care plans.
2. Work to the agreed job plan and provide safe effective service and achieve departmental KPIs.
3. Act as an autonomous, registered practitioner who is legally and professionally accountable for own unsupervised actions guided by the professional code of conduct and Trust guidelines and protocols.
4. Maintain full registration with a licence to practise with the General Medical Council.
5. Gain further professional knowledge through accredited courses, workshops, study, and in-house training programmes to satisfy the credit hours recommended by RCPCH.
6. Develop organisational knowledge relating to Trust protocols and procedures and adhere to them.
7. Work within the team to ensure effective risk management by accident/incident reporting, assessing, and controlling risk and ensuring residual risks are added to the Risk Register.
8. Participate in established Safeguarding Peer Review (and supervision sessions where relevant to role).
9. Engage with Children’s Community of Practice in CNWL to develop and provide standard best practice.
