The Service
Corporate Finance provides a range of effective, efficient and high-quality professional services with support to Members, managers, staff, services, schools and a range of external partners in the delivery of the Councils objectives.
The Corporate Finance Team is made up of 36 full time equivalent posts and provides all the Accountancy functions of the Council.
The role
The posts will work as part of a team of staff to ensure an efficient and effective standard of service is provided to the required standard.
Key functions of the service are to prepare the Council's Medium Term Financial Plan, report progress during the year on delivering the agreed budget, closing the accounts and producing the annual Statement of Accounts.
The appointed person will be the key contact point for Services budget managers' queries and problems, providing financial advice and support. The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
Senior Accountant - Children, Young People & Education
The role will support a diverse service which is experiencing significant pressure and growth. This will include the effective management of both the revenue and capital budget process. The role will also include assistance on the preparation of statutory grant claims and returns in accordance with relevant schedules.

Essential requirements:
* Applications are sought from qualified CCAB accountants.
* Experience of financial and performance management within a comparable organisation.
* A successful track record of engaging effectively with others at a senior level and building productive partnerships with key stakeholders.
* Highly developed knowledge and experience of IT systems.
* Ability to work as part of a team and foster a positive organisational culture.
