Department FunctionThe central Production team provides support, guidance and best practices for the BU production teams to strive towards a consistent delivery of a high-quality product for our customers. The department works closely with internal and external stakeholders to continuously improve quality, efficiency, and the ongoing development of our production-based people. Production has many touchpoints and influences with a range of functions throughout the business from Technical and Design and Health and Safety through to Finance, Sales, Customer Service and Human Resources. The department has a wide range of roles within the business, ranging from site-based apprentices, trades and management through to office-based administration, managers and directors. Continuous professional development is encouraged via our Production Academy, working towards a fully qualified production management workforce. Job summary/PurposeAs a participant in the Trainee Assistant Site Manager programme, you'll embark on a journey of learning and development, utilising skills you developed during your degree and tailoring them to a real world construction site. You'll actively engage in organising and overseeing labour, materials and subcontractors, gaining hands-on experience in ensuring quality standards. Throughout the programme, you'll focus on maintaining stringent health, safety and quality standards on site, conducting thorough inductions and inspections, and ensuring full compliance with building regulations. Collaborating closely with Taylor Wimpey functions, you'll enhance your communication and problem-solving abilities, adeptly handling customer issues and coordinating their preferences. Furthermore, you'll actively participate in planning and arranging site inspections by regulatory bodies, learning to manage and accompany inspectors during visits. Your role will also entail maintaining impeccable site presentation and implementing efficient waste management disposal practices, all while fostering the growth and development of yourself and your peers within the Programme to progress to an Assistant Site Manager within an accelerated period.Primary ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities:Organisation and Control of Sub-contractors and Suppliers: Assist with weekly planning, shadow experienced staff for planning and communication, learn conflict resolution, coordinate material deliveries, maintain a daily diary, and enforce waste management procedures.Health and Safety: Attend training, assist with statutory forms, shadow safety inspections, and help review safe systems of work, method statements, and risk assessments.Sales: Observe interactions with Sales Executives on customer options and variations, and learn to coordinate with departments and subcontractors on customer choices.Site Inspection: Assist in planning stage inspections, accompany staff during inspections, and gain knowledge of standards and protocols.Customer Care: Assist in Home Quality Inspections, ensure properties are defect-free, learn to resolve customer concerns and defects, and manage quality control during customer visits.Site Presentation: Learn and apply company rules for site presentation.Overall Development: Participate in training and mentorship to develop skills necessary for the role of Assistant Site Manager.Experience, Qualifications, Technical RequirementsWhat you will need: A 2:1 Degree in a Built Environment, Construction or STEM Related Course A Driving License A Willingness to travel around your area Full indefinite UK working rights What you will receive: £30,400 starting salary with pay increases as you reach milestones throughout your training.
