Role: Male Support Worker
Location: Leyland
Salary: £12 per hour / £23,450 per annum
Shifts: Our shifts are 12 hours starting 21:00 – 09:00 am Waking Nights
Expected hours: 24 – 36 per week
Key Role essentials and responsibilities:
1. Full UK drivers’ licence
2. Competent verbal and written English
3. Must have experience within health and social care settings
4. Assisting Autism with goal orientated activities and living skills
5. Monitor service users physical and emotional wellbeing
6. Supporting sensory needs
7. Provide a person-centred support
8. Assist the individual with maintaining positive relations in the community
Meet the person you’ll be supporting:
* Who am I? I am a gentleman in my 30s. I have recently moved into my own house for the first time, so I need support to help me with this transition and to reintegrate into the community.
* What challenges do I have? I have autism and I am non-verbal, so it is helpful if people are patient with me and follow my routines. I have sensory issues, so this is something my staff need to monitor.
* What activities do I do? I love to go on long walks that my staff team will join me on, and I enjoy going on drives. When I move into my new home, I would like to be encouraged to spend time in the garden and begin exploring my local area.
* What types of people do I get along with? People with good communication skills, who can help me with decision making and direction, without being demanding.
* Where do I live and what is my house like? I live in Clayton-le-Woods near Preston and Leyland. I have a lovely house with a big garden and lots of space for activities and a sensory room.
My team:
* How many people support me at one time? I am supported by 3 staff at a time. My staff don’t physically intervene but may need to de-escalate and redirect me.
* What are my team trained in? My staff will get a bespoke training course specifically to cover my needs.
