Job Opportunity: Estimator
My client, a well-known Main Contractor specializing in Social Housing, Civils, and New Builds, is seeking a professional Estimator to join their growing Estimation Department.
The experience expected from applicants, as well as additional skills and qualifications needed for this job are listed below. You will need at least 2-3 years of experience in a dedicated estimation role for a Main Contractor and want to be part of a fast-paced team. You will be working in a team of 3 Estimators and an Estimating Manager, focusing on Social Housing projects.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop project budgets based on estimates and provide cost information to project managers and clients.
2. Assist in preparing and submitting competitive bids and tenders for new projects.
3. Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers and subcontractors to secure the best possible deals.
4. Identify potential risks and uncertainties associated with project costs and timelines.
5. Suggest alternative materials or methods that can achieve cost savings.
6. Monitor project costs against estimates and budgets, identifying any variances.
7. Maintain comprehensive records of estimates, tender submissions, and correspondence with suppliers and subcontractors.
