Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 6 Occupational Therapist to be a part of the Community Adult Mental Health (AMH) Team in Portsmouth. This role will be split between the Community Intensive Rehabilitation Team (CIRT) and the Allied Health Professional (AHP) Service. CIRT provides a range of rehabilitation focused assessment and intervention for adults with severe and enduring mental health problems who are based in the community. AHP Service provides mental health specific Occupational Therapy assessments and intervention including 1:1 work and group programs, including the evidence-based and award-winning Occupational Matters Programme. You will work alongside a welcoming and friendly multi-disciplinary team consisting of Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, a psychology lead and experienced Support Workers. We are looking for someone with an understanding of the recovery model and a rehabilitation focused approach. You will need to be interested and passionate about providing high quality Occupational Therapy in mental health setting. You will have the opportunity to attend our 5 modules psychological therapies training which will include behavioural activation, counselling, motivational interviewing, anxiety management and DBT Techniques. There may be opportunities for OT Specific training including Sensory Integration and courses related to the Model of Human Occupation Main duties of the job Act as a key resource for the Occupational Therapy needs of the wider MDT caseload. To guide the team on the appropriate use of therapeutic risk-taking during MDT discussions, using specialist OT and mental health knowledge. To meet the needs of service users in an effective, efficient and recovery focused approach. To ensure the maintenance of a high standard of care to working age adults with severe and enduring mental health difficulties supporting the implementation of the Care Programme Approach (CPA) and act as Lead Professional. Communicate effectively with clients, carers, colleagues, and relevant agencies in a range of matters, some of which require negotiation or persuasive skills, to motivate patients to engage. The context of these communications can be emotive, volatile, or sensitive in nature, and so advanced communication and reasoning skills are required.
