We are looking for a Band 7 Vulnerable Foot Specialist Podiatrist to work within Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust. You will join one of the largest and forward-thinking Podiatry teams in the country. We are looking for a highly motivated and professional HCPC registered Podiatrist to provide high quality podiatric care for patients with pathological foot conditions and those individuals at risk of developing serious foot health complications. You will have excellent clinical skills to deliver a range of Podiatry treatments for our patients in Kent, working with the local team to ensure service provisions are run effectively and efficiently. Upon joining our team, you will receive a comprehensive induction programme, as well as our own preceptorship package covering all aspects of peer review, clinical supervision, support, and mentoring. A competency programme is used for staff to ensure all work is to a high clinical standard, which can lead to future opportunities for career development into a chosen specialist area supported within the service. Podiatry embraces new ways of working including virtual consultations, group sessions, and technology. Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust provides a comprehensive health and wellbeing support package to all staff as well as excellent development opportunities. The post will be based within the Ashford area covering Ashford and Tenterden.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide specialist knowledge and skills for patients with vulnerable (or high-risk) foot problems. They will have specialist knowledge in the care of patients with high-risk foot complications, including diabetes, acute and chronic neuropathies, vascular problems, and wound management. Within their clinical leadership/management role, working with the Vulnerable Foot Lead for the service, they will be responsible for supporting the development of colleagues within the Podiatry team by implementing the Podiatry Competency Framework, Clinical Pathways, Protocols, and Guidelines. The post holder will be required to adapt and adopt other duties for Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust. They will also be expected to plan and manage a high-risk caseload for 80% of their time and make decisions autonomously. They will also provide specialist clinical leadership, mentoring, and education to podiatry staff, local nursing teams, other members of staff, and patient/carer groups.
The service is delivered in Community Clinics, Health Centres, GP surgeries, Acute Hospitals, Prison sites, Mental health units, and patients' own homes. All staff are given the opportunity to get involved in a wide variety and scope of practice. Person Specification
QUALIFICATIONS
* BSc or equivalent in Podiatry
* Completion of the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists diabetic foot module or equivalent
* HCPC Registration
* Evidence of appraising staff and clinical mentorship/preceptorship training or the willingness to undertake this
* Completion of the Diploma in Diabetes
EXPERIENCE
* Minimum of at least 3 years' experience as a clinical specialist dealing with the 'vulnerable or high risk' foot
* Evidence of continued professional development
* Working with and communicating with a wide range of complex networks
* Experience of leading and motivating staff
KNOWLEDGE
* Understanding of National Service Frameworks and NICE guidance relevant to care setting and its application across health care services
* Supporting others (mentor/educator/supervisor) experience
* Proven ability to develop effective partnerships to achieve practical outcomes across organisational boundaries including statutory organisations, external agencies, community and voluntary organisations
* Evidence of continued relevant professional development and implementation in practice within the last 12 months
* Understanding of requirements for the Care Quality Commission
