The Role
Our family law department specializes in all family and relationship matters including separation and divorce, arrangements for children, asset and financial planning, relationship breakdowns as well as cohabitation agreements, and pre-nuptial agreements for couples getting married or entering into a civil partnership.
The team is led by Elizabeth Hassall, who is widely recognised in prestigious legal publications, including Legal 500 and Chambers Legal Directory.
In this role, you will report to Emma Evans, an Associate with the department who has particular expertise in Children Act work, special guardianship applications, and relocation cases. This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with experienced professionals in a cohesive, collaborative environment.
Day to day your key responsibilities will include:
* Working closely with clients who will appreciate your proactive and empathetic approach, you will act as first point of contact for incoming calls and will deal with all children act related administration.
* Proactively liaising with clients to keep them updated on their cases at all times.
* Liaising with Courts, experts and other third parties.
* Managing diaries and organising remote/in-person appointments.
* Taking point for client letters including bills, drafting updates and checking dictated letters for accuracy.
* Opening and closing client files on the case management system.
* Scanning, copying, archiving documents and preparing large court bundles.
* Collating information and assisting with the drafting of legal documents, practice notes and training materials using our up-to-date practitioner’s resources.
* Carrying out research into technical legal issues.
* Preparing content for business development and marketing purposes.
* Ensuring our service standards are delivered consistently and proactively every client, every time.
What we’re looking for:
* Previous family law experience would be preferable; however, any experience in a paralegal capacity will be advantageous.
* Legal education or previous legal administration experience essential.
* Strong written and verbal communicator who is able to confidently liaise with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
* Able to work within a fast-paced, team environment, effectively managing priorities to meet deadlines.
* A technically proficient candidate with excellent attention to detail.
* IT literate, with case management experience.
* Desire to learn and a 'can do' approach.
* Self-starter who can work on their own initiative.
* Proven team player who is keen to work collaboratively to meet company goals.
