Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen within Elective Orthopaedics for the role of Ward Sister / Charge Nurse. The position is based at Leicester General Hospital, on ward 14. We are looking for confident, motivated, enthusiastic, professional nurse leader, who is an experienced Adult Registered Nurse. Previous recent experience as sister or deputy sister in an in-patient surgical ward area is essential, ideally within orthopaedics. We seek an individual who is credible, reliable and has strong clinical & managerial skills; someone who will provide direction and inspirational leadership to the team. You must be committed to ensuring high quality patient care is delivered; provide effective staff leadership; ensure staff are developed as necessary and be able to work with your team to create a great ward learning environment. Through your effective leadership, you must be able to ensure the ward team continually seeks means develop and improve patient experience; ensure an innovative service and excellent nursing care are provided, whilst working to further reduce the length of patient stay. You will be responsible for ensuring the continuous management of the ward, and working with the matrons, multidisciplinary team, ward staff and other areas within the service and CMG and you should be adaptable and responsive to changes in service needs to ensure they are met. Main duties of the job Take 24 hour responsibility and accountability for the given area, visible, accessible and responsive to the needs of service users, patients, carers and the public.
