ESG Manager - Halesowen (with National Travel required)
Up to £60,000 per annum

Reporting into the Chief Financial Officer, the ESG Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing a company's Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives. This role involves monitoring ESG trends, evaluating risks, and ensuring the organisation’s operations align with sustainable practices and regulatory requirements. The ESG Manager works cross-functionally to promote corporate social responsibility, environmental stewardship, and ethical governance while driving long-term business value.
Key Responsibilities:
1. ESG Strategy Development:
o Lead the development and execution of the company’s ESG strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and industry best practices.
o Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., operations, finance, legal, HR) to integrate ESG priorities across all areas of the business.
o Identify opportunities for sustainability improvement and propose initiatives to enhance the company’s ESG performance.
2. Reporting and Compliance:
o Prepare and manage ESG-related disclosures and reports in compliance with industry standards.
o Monitor and report on the company's progress in achieving ESG goals and performance indicators.
o Ensure compliance with local, national, and international ESG-related regulations and frameworks.
o Create an annual ESG impact report.
o Update the company website with ESG extracts, with a detailed website landing page.
3. Stakeholder Engagement:
o Engage with key stakeholders including investors, customers, employees, regulators, and NGOs to communicate the company’s ESG initiatives.
o Act as a representative of the company in ESG-related discussions, conferences, and forums.
o Build partnerships with external organizations to enhance the company’s ESG efforts.
o Provide support and advice to the bid writing team to answer ESG questions as part of the tender process.
4. Risk Management:
o Identify and assess ESG-related risks and opportunities, including climate risks, regulatory risks, and social impacts.
o Develop risk mitigation strategies and ensure the company’s resilience in areas such as carbon reduction, supply chain sustainability, and ethical governance practices.
5. Sustainability Programs:
o Lead or support sustainability initiatives such as carbon footprint reduction, energy efficiency, waste management, and diversity and inclusion programs.
o Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure sustainable sourcing practices.
o Drive innovation and continuous improvement in the company’s ESG programs and operations.
6. Data Collection and Analysis:
o Establish and maintain systems for tracking ESG data and metrics.
o Analyze data to measure the impact of ESG initiatives and make recommendations for improvement.
o Benchmark ESG performance against competitors and industry standards.
7. Training and Awareness:
o Develop and deliver ESG-related training and awareness programs for employees.
o Foster a company-wide culture of sustainability and corporate social responsibility.
We are looking for an ESG Manager that has:
1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Business, or related field. A Master’s degree in a related discipline is advantageous although not essential.
2. Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in ESG, sustainability, corporate responsibility, or a related field. Experience in developing and implementing ESG strategies and reporting frameworks.
3. Skills:
o Strong knowledge of ESG frameworks, standards, and regulations.
o Excellent project management and organizational skills.
o Ability to analyse complex data and translate it into actionable insights.
o Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
o Demonstrated leadership and ability to manage cross-functional teams.
o Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and sustainability reporting software.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Professional certifications (e.g., LEED, GRI Certification, SASB Fundamentals of Sustainability Accounting).
* Experience with ESG ratings and rankings agencies (e.g., MSCI, Sustainalytics).
* Knowledge of carbon accounting and climate risk assessments.
