Clinical Fellow in Gynae-Oncology
Applications are invited for a post of Senior Clinical Fellow in the Department of Gynaecological Oncology based at Oxford Gynaecological Cancer Centre, Churchill Hospital, Old Road, Headington, Oxford OX3 7LJ.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a large tertiary cancer centre of the Thames Valley Regional Cancer Network covering a population of nearly 2 million. All the modern facilities and the relevant other multidisciplinary specialties required to provide top quality gynaecological oncology training are available.
Main duties of the job
This post is suitable for candidates who wish to expand their knowledge and skills in Gynaecological Oncology, who aim to apply for a Consultant Post as a Unit Lead in Gynaecological Oncology, or use the post as preparation for application for Sub Specialty Training in Gynaecological Oncology.
The post will be for 12 months in the first instance with the option of extending to two years subject to satisfactory progress.

Job description
Job responsibilities
The position is designed to offer comprehensive training in Gynaecological Oncology according to the ATSM in Gynaecological Oncology curriculum. The candidate is expected to work alongside the Gynaecological Oncology Team. The post includes responsibility for supervision of inpatient and outpatient clinics. Research is not timetabled in this post but a keen appointee would have support to undertake a research project and present at National and International meetings. Extensive surgical training is possible with up to 40 hours of theatre time available for the Gynaecological Oncology team per week. The successful candidate will be encouraged to register with the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists for Gynaecological Oncology Advanced Training Skills Module (ATSM).

Qualifications and skills
Essential
1. MBBS or equivalent
2. Clinical training in Gynaecologic Oncology
3. Evidence of clinical or basic research in Gynaecological Oncology
4. Ability to make decisions at post MRCOG level
Desirable
5. MRCOG part 2 or equivalent Intercalated degree/MD/PhD Other post graduate diploma
6. Evidence of work in a Gynaecological Oncology accredited centre
7. Ability to take clinical decision in Gynaecological Oncology
Skills and Knowledge
Essential
8. Knowledge of the decision making processes and the scientific rationale for these decision in Gynaecologic Oncology
9. Adequate surgical skills to cover basic gynaecological surgery
10. Knowledge of the principles of Gynaecological Oncology surgery
11. Sufficient leadership and organizational skills to interact with junior and seniors
12. Well organized and able to prioritize
13. Good personal and interpersonal skills
14. Good spoken and written English. Communication skills should be highly developed.
