About the role: The Inorganic product portfolio comprises caustic soda, HCL, sodium hypochlorite, sulphuric acid, ferric and aluminum coagulants, nitric acid and ammonia. The Inorganics business sells over 500Kt per annum of product in bulk and packed format. The commercial, customer service and supply chain teams report directly to the Commercial Manager. There are 3 direct reports and 6 indirect reports. As the Commercial Manager, your responsibility will be: Delivery of planned and budgeted margin and volume performance Key product responsibility for the Inorganics product portfolio. This includes all regulatory and technical aspects of the product ably supported by the Technical Manager. Work effectively within the commercial function of the wider UK business and co-ordinate sales and supplier activities with other Commercial teams across the business. Monitor, review and continuously challenge sales performance of the business by direct communication with the Regional Sales Managers. Liaise with key suppliers at a senior level. Develop supplier strategies to maximize product supply opportunities and strengthen supply chain continuity. Ensure supplier agreements are fulfilled. Active involvement in the renewal and or creation of supplier agreements. Develop effective product growth strategies to continuously grow margins Provide regular market intelligence for the monthly UK business intel report. Update and notify the wider UK business and sales teams of market changes affecting product availability and supply. Prepare and present the commercial input for the Inorganics annual budget review process. Manage and lead the performance of the customer service team. Use all appropriate metrics to deliver customer service excellence. Your skills & Experience: Degree in business, chemical or technical discipline preferred. Knowledge of commodity chemical markets including chlor-alkalis. Commodity based sales knowledge. Experienced in marketing a service-based offering Working within a large corporate organisation Business and sales management experience Confident with excellent negotiation and communication skills Ability to think and plan strategically. Act tactically when required.
