The Performance Reporting & Analysis Unit (PRAU), Border Force Data Cell, is a hybrid team which combines data expertise across The Science, Technology, Research and Analysis (STAR) Group sitting at the heart of the Home Office, within Border Force Headquarters (Border HQ); providing reports about the performance and productivity of the UK Border to many stakeholders. This role supports Ministers, the Executive Committee, Policy and Operational leads and other analytical functions with the management information (MI) that they need, as well as producing data for publication and other forms of external release.
Data and Systems Hub (D&S) is responsible for managing Border Force’s strategic approach to data, managing data requests and ensuring data quality for operational delivery.
We ensure all Border Force MI & Performance Data acts as the single source of truth for operational data for Border Force (BF), as well as ensuring the IT systems used by as well as ensuring the IT systems used by Border Force (BF) are managed effectively with a focus on continuous improvement. We investigate the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and automation to improve efficiency and are introducing systems to enhance our data quality and for obtaining and quality assuring data from external partners. We ensure that Border Force is legally compliant in the collection, storage, exploitation, and disposal of data.
The successful candidate will be Subject Matter Experts (SME) for specific operational areas. You will build a close relationship with and understanding of your business areas, in order to ensure that reporting is accurate and informative and supports operational areas in your challenging and critical work.
You will work closely with end-users to understand evolving requirements and ensure the products continually meet their needs, playing a critical role in the shaping, design, and development of new reports. As an SME, you will manage all projects in relation to your area, including product requests, issue resolution, and change implementation. You will play a key role in embedding new technologies and shaping the future delivery of MI services, in particular through the introduction of Microsoft PowerBI products. Training and support on our methods and tooling will be provided.

Working Pattern
Due to the business requirements of this role, it is only available on a full-time basis. However, job-share and compressed hours are available.
