We have an exciting opportunity for a Retail Technical Manager to join our Governance team based in our Central Support Office in Lasswade on a 12 month fixed term basis. Your role will be to manage the Technical aspects of all Dobbies ‘own-brand’ product development & also work with branded products. You will ensure that for each Dobbies own brand product all packaging includes the appropriate standards, specifications and certifications. You will ensure all sign-off procedures are in place whilst working closely with Dobbies Marketing, Buying and Legal teams. You will implement and manage new systems, to mirror the current systems in place for Dobbies own brand product ranges. Finally, you will be the main point of contact for all legal and safety quires relating to Dobbies own brand and branded products across the business. You will lead the technical agenda across all B&M categories.
Responsibilities
* Manage legal and regulatory compliance in both food and non-food products.
* Manage and oversee Dobbies own-brand artwork across all ranges. Check all own brand artwork for technical and legal requirements and compliance. Final sign off of all artwork.
* Manage the specifications system across each area of Dobbies own brand ranges, ensuring all key information has been gathered for each category by the Technologist. Final sign off of all specifications.
* Oversee the management of current suppliers on the Sedex platform.
* Start the process of getting all suppliers that do Dobbies own Brand to join Sedex and have an ethical audit if required.
* Work with the various Dobbies own brand Buying departments to standardise a product approval system which is fit for purpose. With the aim being to gather specifications, test reports, pre-shipment reports and approve artwork technically as well as having all suppliers on Sedex.
* Point of contact for all legal/safety queries for Dobbies own brand and branded products across all stores and the CSO.
* Oversee the set up and implementation of an ‘On-Pack Recycling Label’ system across the Dobbies own-brand range.
* Manage EPW process for any defective products (food and non-food) and serious food complaint processes.
* Support B&M teams with sourcing trips to ensure technical standards are achieved in all direct sourcing.
* Report and summarise all key technical activities periodically.
* Manage and support the technologist.
* Check ad hoc compliance regulations have been met.
* Support technical based projects throughout the business.

* All own-brand products meet legal and statutory compliance.
* Dobbies own brand categories that have previously had no Technical input have robust systems in place to ensure they meet legal and statutory compliance.
* Dobbies has accurate and efficient technical processes.
* Dobbies customers are safe and the brand is protected.
