About the role
As Senior EHCP Coordinator (Pre-14 team), you will:
* Be responsible for overseeing and managing the work of Pre-14 EHCP Coordinators within the SEND team, including supervision, appraisal and the induction of new team members as well as managing a reduced caseload.
* Ensure that performance standards and national indicators relating to the statutory EHCP processes are achieved and Coordinators undertake statutory processes in an efficient and timely manner, reaching appropriate placement decisions for children and young people aged 0-13.
* Meet with parents, schools and other agency representatives to negotiate, identify and develop positive solutions for children and young people with a complex range of needs.
* Advise and lead on more complex cases as required, improving customer satisfaction levels for the service and acting as a professional exemplar in all duties.
* Lead Annual Reviews and Transfer Reviews as required, monitor systems for the management of Review processes, and manage arrangements for Phase Transfer and transitions through liaison with Social Care and Health Services, schools, colleges and parents.
* Provide information for the purpose of appeals and attend mediations with the Team Manager/Tribunals and Resolutions Officer as appropriate, including tracking meetings and Panels.
About you
To be a Senior EHCP Coordinator (Pre-14 team) in AfC, you will be passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of children and young people and demonstrate the following points:
* Education to degree level or equivalent qualification/experience.
* Knowledge of the principles and practice of Service providers across Education, Health and Social Care, effective people management, and good knowledge of equality and disability issues.
* Detailed knowledge of SEN law and the SEN Code of Practice, particularly in relation to Preparing for Adulthood.
* High level communication and customer service skills.
* Ability to work in a pressurised environment.
