The University of Oxford is seeking an experienced Clinical Researcher to join our team in the Oxford Acute Myocardial Infarction (OxAMI) Study, located at the John Radcliffe Hospital, in the University of Oxford Radcliffe Department of Medicine (RDM) Division of Cardiovascular Medicine. RDM-Cardiovascular Medicine provides a vibrant and dynamic environment for researchers and clinicians, offering state-of-the-art facilities and a multidisciplinary team approach to cardiovascular research and clinical practice.
You will be actively involved in the OxAMI Study, recruiting patients, obtaining clinical samples and undertaking laboratory analyses, with other scientists. The new OxAMI project on which the Clinical Research Fellow will take the leading role aims to understand the molecular changes in circulating immune cells and platelets in patients with acute MI, how these relate to other disease biomarkers and how the molecular changes could inform better understanding of disease mechanisms and treatment stratification.
You will collaborate on other grant proposals, collect and analyse imaging and clinical data, and ensure adherence to International Conference on Harmonisation (ICH) Good Clinical Practice (GCP). Other responsibilities include maintaining accurate patient records, ensuring compliance with research governance, and supporting patient recruitment and follow-up.
The ideal candidate is medically qualified with full GMC registration, a license to practice in the UK, and already has solid experience in cardiology, both clinical and in research. It is particularly suitable for Specialty Trainees in Cardiology seeking to specialize in coronary artery disease imaging, intervention or basic science research.
This is a 2 year fixed term post.
Informal enquiries may be addressed to Prof. Keith Channon: keith.channon@cardiov.ox.ac.uk.
Only online applications received before midday on the 2nd January can be considered. You will be required to upload a covering letter/supporting statement, including a brief statement of research interests (describing how past experience and future plans fit with the advertised position), CV and the details of two referees as part of your online application.
Interviews will take place week commencing 13th of January 2025.
