An exciting opportunity has arisen for the role of Ward Clerk to join the Maternity Team at Wirral Women and Children's Hospital.
The Ward Clerk will work as part of a small team providing admin and clerical support, predominately in the Maternity Triage area and the Maternity Ward area, whilst supporting Delivery Suite and all areas in the Maternity Unit.
The successful candidate will work closely with midwives and support staff that work across the maternity unit each shift, working closely with the multidisciplinary teams across maternity to provide safe, high quality care.
Shift work 0730-2000 or 1930-0800. The successful applicant would be expected to work on a rotation to include nightshifts and weekends as well as weekday shifts.
Main duties include booking appointments, rescheduling appointments, answering telephone queries and acting upon query accordingly. Using Cerner Millennium to admit, transfer and discharge patients. Liaising with Child Health to ensure birth notifications are correct. Reception duties are also a part of this role along with supporting Maternity Patients and visitors when they arrive and during their stay.

If successful in this role, there is a requirement for you to have a standard/enhanced DBS. This will be paid for by the Trust and then deducted from your salary over a period of 3 month.
As this vacancy is within the division of Women's and Children's, there is a mandatory requirement for successful applicants to join the DBS update service. The cost of joining the update service is £13 per year, and applicants are liable to cover this cost with no reimbursement from the Trust.
