* Female Only
* Part-time - 24 hours per week
* £12 per hour
We are currently recruiting staff to work with Chloe, a lady living in the Carluke area of South Lanarkshire. She is looking to build a team that can support her on a 2:1 basis 24 hours a day. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone looking to develop their skills and to be involved in helping Chloe re-engage with her community.
“I am Chloe and I am 49 years old. I am clever, fun, friendly, polite and good company. I have been told I have a lovely smile!
I have a great relationship with my family and we meet up twice a week, usually involving my favourite pastime of visiting a coffee shop for tea and a biscuit.
I live with Autism and a visual impairment and I experience and enjoy life using all my other senses. Sensory experiences such as massage, baking and playing percussion instruments are really important to me. I love singing my favourite nursery rhymes and reading books, especially Beatrix Potter.
I use touch and smell to identify my favourite books and dolls. Listening to classical music and Smooth Radio are some of my daily pastimes.
Following a sudden loss of the use of my legs, I recently spent some months in hospital. I have now returned to my home and depend on equipment with two members of staff to assist me in my daily routines which are very important to me. Regaining some strength and mobility is my long term goal.”
What I am looking for…
* Someone who is calm and laidback with a strong personality but not overwhelming.
* Someone who is patient.
* Someone who is positive.
* Someone who is not too chatty and knows when to be quiet when the time is right.
* You would be expected to be part of a rota for weekends.
We are looking for individuals who share our values...
Do the right thing
Play an important role in creating a safe environment for the people we support and colleagues. Speak the truth. Treat people with dignity and respect.
Make a difference
Support and encourage people with the things that are important to them. Assist people to develop relationships, to get a job, to try new things or build their confidence. Make sure that every day your work has purpose and impact.
Take responsibility
Take ownership of your work, learning and development. Learn from mistakes and always do your best.
Challenge the status quo
We don’t believe in doing things just because ‘that’s the way they’ve always been done’. If things aren’t working for the people we support we want our teams to speak up and challenge this.
Look at the world from different perspectives
See the world through someone else’s eyes. Consider other points of view. Listen to what’s not being said and learn new ways to communicate with people.
Find joy in the ordinary
Celebrate everyday achievements. Focus on what’s important in life. Love your work.
