An international leader in the provision of specialist fire door installations is looking for experienced electrical/alarm engineers to join their growing team on a national basis. They specialize in the design and manufacture of anti-ligature door systems for mental health hospitals and other secure facilities where there is a risk of patient self-harm.
They work predominantly in NHS mental health trusts across the UK, either directly or through their supply chain. The door systems are provided on a supply-only basis or increasingly as a supply and install package.
Objective of the role:
There is an increasing demand to utilize electronic technology on these door sets, such as physical security (access control) and sensor-based door ligature alarms to quickly detect and alert upon sustained pressure on the top or edges of the door.
The three main objectives of this role are:
1. Installation
2. Service
3. Maintenance
This role will report to the Project Manager in each geographical region of the country, covering the Midlands, South, and West.
Responsibilities include:
* Measurement of correct AC/DC voltages and cable resistances using a multi-meter
* Removing and replacing electronic devices and power supplies
* Tracing cables and identifying open and/or short circuits
* Removing doors from their hinges to gain access inside the door in the event of any internal faults needing rectifying
* Retesting fixes and demonstrating to relevant personnel
* The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate competent analytical thinking skills
* Be comfortable working alone or as part of a small team at various sites across an agreed region of the country
* Follow instructions but also have the ability for ad-hoc problem solving, focusing on concluding tasks within the given time frame
* Willingness for occasional overnight stays
The successful candidate will have:
* Full Driving Licence
* An understanding of H&S requirements on site
* An excellent communicator, both spoken and written
* Familiarity with Fieldview or similar reporting systems for controlling quality and snagging on site
* IT literate and familiar with basic MS systems
* Enjoys the fast-moving pace and variety of maintenance work within the Mental Health Sector
Remuneration Package:
* £40,000 - £42,000 per annum salary (DoE)
* Company van and tools provided, although the post holder would be expected to have the use of their own hand tools where preferred
* Annual holiday allowance of 20 days plus Bank Holidays
* Performance bonus based on monthly invoice sales
* Phone and laptop
