Empowerment Charity Lancashire Dads Peer Support Group Worker Blackpool, Lancashire, United Kingdom Dads Peer Support Group Worker Are you a dad who believes in the power of community support? Are you passionate about creating a safe and inclusive space where fathers can come together to share their experiences and support each other? If so, we are looking for YOU to join our team as a part-time Dads Peer Support Group Worker We understand that the inclusion of dads and male caregivers from pregnancy through to the early years contributes to positive outcomes for children's social and emotional development. Sadly, many men become socially isolated from their families, friends, co-workers, etc., which can and does affect their mental health. This is where peer support groups can help and provide a safe place for dads to have open and honest discussions about their fears and difficulties of becoming and/or being a father with like-minded people. Peer support groups have shown to reduce social isolation due to engagement in social activities outside the home and are positive for those experiencing perinatal mental health difficulties. As a Dads Peer Support Group Worker you will be responsible for; • Supporting the Facilitator at weekly peer support group sessions for dads in a welcoming and inclusive environment. • Fostering a supportive atmosphere where dads can share their experiences, challenges, and successes without judgment. • Providing resources, information, and referrals to Universal Groups within the local Family Hubs. • Assisting in planning and organising special events, workshops, and guest speaker sessions for the dad community. We are looking for someone who has; • Lived Experience of being a Father. • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with diverse individuals. • Excellent communication and active listening skills. • Empathy, compassion, and a non-judgmental attitude. • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends to accommodate group schedules.
