This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a specialist interest in Respiratory Physiotherapy, to join an evolving Post Covid Team. This post is for 12 months, covering maternity leave.
The post will be based within the Post Covid Service and its future transition plans but will sit primarily in the Breathlessness pathway within this. The pathway has been designed to assess and treat breathing pattern disorders identified Post Covid, as well as existing respiratory conditions, such as Asthma. The successful candidate will be supported to strengthen and build skills within this area. There will also be opportunities to develop more holistic assessment skills within a Multidisciplinary clinic environment. All patient contact is conducted in an Outpatient clinic setting.
The post is suitable for a band 6 with experience in Respiratory wanting to develop further skills or an established band 7.
You will work within an established team of Physiotherapists, OT, SLT and time in a Consultant led clinic.
The post is for 30 hours a week with some weekend working.
Main duties of the job
1. To take a major role in the advanced physiotherapeutic assessment, management and treatment of Post Covid and respiratory patients with diverse presentations and complex physical conditions to provide a diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised specialist treatment programme.
2. To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner and maintain associated records.
3. To work as a team to provide day to day management (reviewing performance and progress, allocation and checking of work) and training to junior physiotherapy staff, and to ensure competence in carrying out duties with patients with respiratory problems.
4. Plan the supervision and education and assess the performance of physiotherapy students to a graduate standard and involve working with universities to ensure the standard of practice and teaching meets the standards set by the degree level qualification.
5. Undertake regular evidence-based audit and research projects (as appropriate) to further own and team's clinical practice. Make recommendations to Clinical Team Leader for changes to practice by the team. Lead the implementation of specific changes to practice and contribute to service protocols within own area of clinical practice, in collaboration with colleagues.

Qualifications
Essential
* Current registration with Health and Care Professions Council, Physio register.
* Physiotherapy degree qualification or equivalent, and significant NHS post graduate experience.
* Documented evidence of Continued Professional Development of relevant specialist knowledge and skills.
* Demonstration of specialist knowledge in respiratory physiotherapy, across the range of procedures and working practices, with the appropriate theoretical and practical experience.
* Good standard of general education including GCSE maths and English grade C and above.
Desirable
* Evidence of leadership training.
* Membership of a professional special interest group or national/regional network.
* Recent post graduate training relevant to clinical speciality.
Experience
Essential
* Understanding of organisational structure of the NHS and Social Care.
* Demonstrate an ability to provide professional/clinical leadership.
* Experience of working within a team and participating in service development.
* Experience of supporting and supervision of junior therapists, students and assistants.
* Understanding of current legislation and application to within Post Covid and Physiotherapy generally.
* Attendance at postgraduate courses relevant to respiratory physiotherapy.
* Experience of working on a physiotherapy on-call service.
* Minimum of 12 months experience at band 6 working with patients with a variety of acute and chronic conditions.
Desirable
* To be able to support and create clinical pathways to improve and develop specialist services.
* Experience of working with respiratory patients, particularly breathing pattern disorders in an acute or outpatient setting.
* To have an awareness of creating business cases to improve team outcomes and recruitment.
* Evidence of audit/R&D activity on a regular basis.
* Open mindfulness of new ways of working and supporting recruitment.

* Able to contribute to 7 day and extended hours service provision as appropriate including out of hours on call respiratory service.
