ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for an enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join Gosforth Academy’s Learning Support Department. The successful candidate will play a key role in working alongside students with a range of needs. The Learning Support Department works across all Key Stages to ensure up-to-date and accurate information is available for class teachers, and that students are supported to ensure they can access the curriculum.
The post holder(s) will lead on overseeing and ensuring the medical needs of the pupils are met. This will include completing training and being confident in the delivery of procedures to support pupils, including toileting and tracheostomy care. Gosforth Group is committed to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion; however, due to the nature of this position, in this instance, there is a genuine occupational requirement to recruit female staff in order to meet the requirements of our pupils.
The post holder will ensure that all relevant resources and apparatus within school are routinely checked and suitable to meet the pupils’ needs. They will lead on supporting pupils in their movement around school, liaising with class teachers and other support staff, to help ensure the pupils’ needs are met. This will involve manual handling on a regular basis.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for developing strong pastoral links for the students they work with, and in addition, where necessary, supporting the wider work of the Student Support Base (SSB).
This role is part time (0.5), term time only. The working days are to be agreed with the successful candidate.
