The Role of a Business Development Manager As a Business Development Manager, youll be responsible for driving new business opportunities and developing long-term strategic relationships with clients across various industries. You will identify prospects, create tailored solutions, and ensure a seamless onboarding process in collaboration with internal operations teams. This is a consultative sales role that requires a hunter mindset, a strong understanding of freight and logistics, and a passion for delivering value to clients. Key Responsibilities Identify and target new business opportunities through prospecting, networking, and market research. Build a pipeline of qualified leads and convert them into long-term clients. Conduct client meetings, understand supply chain needs, and propose tailored logistics solutions. Collaborate closely with operations, pricing, and account management teams to ensure smooth client onboarding and delivery. Prepare and present proposals, quotes, and tender documents. Attend industry events, trade shows, and networking events to enhance brand visibility. Maintain accurate CRM records and deliver regular performance reporting. Work toward and exceed monthly/quarterly revenue and margin targets. Requirements Proven track record in B2B sales, ideally within freight forwarding, logistics, or supply chain. At least three years experience selling air, sea, and/or road freight services is required for this role. Commercially astute, target-driven, and self-motivated. Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills. Strong understanding of global trade and supply chain challenges. Full UK driving license and willingness to travel as needed.
