As part of their ambitious drive to achieve net zero carbon emissions, they're looking for an innovative and motivated Sustainability Projects Engineer to take the lead in transforming their traction systems and driving our decarbonisation strategy forward.
Reporting to the Head of Engineering & Assurance, you'll take the helm in designing and delivering cutting-edge engineering sustainability projects, championing decarbonisation efforts, and creating integrated solutions with industry-leading stakeholders. From harnessing the power of data to shaping the UK rail traction decarbonisation strategy, you'll be a key player in revolutionising the industry while helping the business meet its ambitious environmental goals.
What You'll Be Doing
* Take the lead in refining and implementing our traction decarbonisation strategy, ensuring timely delivery of projects aligned with our zero-carbon ambitions.
* Collaborate with the Sustainability team to develop tools and analyse data, providing critical insights into our fleet's energy usage and emissions.
* Work with rolling stock manufacturers, maintainers, leasing companies, and infrastructure providers to develop and deliver integrated sustainability solutions.
* Drive initiatives from conception to completion, writing compelling business cases and securing the necessary funding.
* Build and nurture relationships across the industry to influence and contribute to the UK rail decarbonisation strategy.
* Provide expert guidance during on-call periods for concessions management and engineering emergencies.
What We're Looking For
* Proven expertise in sustainability engineering, with a deep understanding of decarbonisation practices and innovation.
* Strong project management skills with experience in leading end-to-end initiatives.
* Data management proficiency, including knowledge of analytics and visualisation tools.
* Exceptional communication skills to inspire and influence stakeholders.
* A self-motivated individual who thrives on learning, detail-oriented work, and driving initiatives to success.
* A relevant professional qualification, ideally working toward chartered engineer status.
