Quantity Surveyor – Specialist Masonry Contractor
Location: Ingatestone/Chelmsford, Essex (with travel to projects across London & the South East)

Hawkes is proud to be representing a leading and fast-growing specialist masonry contractor, currently seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their team due to continued growth.

The Role:
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing commercial, procurement, and estimating duties across a range of specialist masonry packages. Your responsibilities will include:
* Managing subcontract packages from initial issue through to final account.
* Preparing and submitting monthly applications/valuations and securing certification with clients.
* Monitoring and tracking material and labour costs throughout project lifecycles.
* Producing accurate monthly cash flow submissions for each project.
* Reviewing and interpreting design information and identifying changes or discrepancies.
* Overseeing the procurement process for bespoke materials including stonework and prefabricated brickwork.
* Measuring from drawings to produce detailed bills of quantities and take-offs for tender submissions.
* Sourcing and integrating material quotations from suppliers.
* Liaising professionally and effectively with clients and stakeholders.
About You:
We are looking for candidates with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role, ideally within a masonry subcontracting environment (brickwork and/or stonework).
You’ll also demonstrate:
* A good understanding of Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures.
* A willingness to expand your knowledge across specialist masonry in both New Build and Heritage sectors.
* The ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
* High levels of attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
* Strong leadership, organisation, and IT skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative mindset.
* A relevant degree qualification in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management.
