Salary: £26,409 to £27,711 per annum, £20,753 to £21,777 pro rata. Location: Your office base will be Chichester and a typical week will combine homeworking with attendance at the office or site visits. This is led by the needs of the service. Contract: Permanent. You will work term-time only 44 weeks per year with an additional 6.4 weeks annual leave entitlement. What is term time only working? A term time only contract is for our staff who are employed to work only during periods when schools are open. Your pay is calculated on an annual basis and then you are paid over twelve equal monthly instalments. Working pattern: Part-time, 30 hours per week. Flexible working options available, to be agreed with your line manager. Employer Pension Contribution: 19.70% this alters per annum on the 1st April each year. Annual leave: 25 days holiday Bank holidays 30 days. As the Assistant Transport Coordinator, you will be supporting passenger care. This includes providing a safe passenger transport service for individuals with complex needs who may require medical intervention during their journey. You will supervise the Passenger Assistants and Health Care Assistants who provide the required care for those passengers. Our service operates across the county taking children to and from School. Our Passenger Assistants (PAs) act as chaperones with basic first aid training. The role involves overseeing the allocation of PAs and Passenger Health Care Assistants in a specific area of the county, each with up to 50 staff. Responsibilities include providing support and training to staff, coordinating with drivers and external suppliers, and facilitating communication with parents and schools. The post holders will act as the main point of contact for parents and suppliers with concerns about services provided by staff. They will manage incident responses through a thorough reporting process and participate in internal investigations. The role will be based at a WSCC depot but will require travel for meetings and site visits. Flexibility is key, as the role may involve covering different areas or tasks as needed to ensure smooth operations. What we need from you: Written and oral communication skills. Ability to anticipate and identify problems, plan solutions and make sound problem-solving decisions. Strong customer focus. People related skills for managing. Experience of day-to-day supervision of a team. Previous experience of caring for children or adults with complex needs would be helpful in being able to understand the challenges faced by the team. Demonstrable customer service skills. Proven successful experience of working as part of a team in order to effectively meet objectives within agreed/necessary timescales. Full car driver licence.
