Job overview
We are looking for a Medical Secretary who will be responsible for supporting the clinical team in delivering high-quality patient care and ensuring a comprehensive secretarial and administrative service is provided to the medical staff and their teams. The post holder will report to the Specialty Coordinator and ensure the CQUIN typing target and validation is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
Main duties of the job
The Medical Secretary:
* Ensures a comprehensive secretarial and administrative service is provided to the medical staff and their supporting team.
* Provides cover for colleagues in their absence to maintain service levels.
* Co-ordinates the elective access process with the Elective Access Clerk.
* Works with the Support Manager to ensure the patient pathway runs smoothly.
* Actively manages patient waiting lists and ensures pathways are updated.
* Regularly validates to ensure data quality.
Person specification
Qualifications
* Typing, Audio and Word/Text Processing skills to RSA II or equivalent.
* GCSE English Language Grade C or equivalent.
* 4 GCSE C or equivalent.
* NVQ 2 or equivalent Business administration.
* Audio skills to RSA II standard or equivalent.
Previous Experience
* Knowledge of medical terminology.
* Previous experience in an office environment.
* NHS experience.
* Ability to complete tasks accurately and efficiently.
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
Specific Requirements
* Conscientious in the standard of work produced.
* Ability to work to tight deadlines and as part of a team.
* Clear understanding of the importance of confidentiality.
* Adaptable to change.
