The team The Business Energy Scotland (BES) commissioning team plays a critical role in delivering expert advice and support to businesses across Scotland, helping them improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. We work closely with Business Energy advisors, energy consultants, and other stakeholders to ensure that businesses receive high-quality energy efficiency reports and financial support. The role As operations officer, you will be at the heart of our efforts to support Scottish businesses in reducing their energy consumption and transitioning to a low-carbon future. This role combines two essential functions: commissioning energy efficiency reports and supporting the financial operations of the BES programme. Your work will ensure that businesses receive timely and high-quality support, and will play a key role in tracking project progress, managing consultant relationships, and maintaining efficient financial administration processes. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a sustainable future while developing valuable skills in project coordination and financial management. What you’ll do Monitor and coordinate all consultancy framework activity to ensure the timely completion of qualifying reports within service level agreements. Support weekly and monthly reporting on commissioning and work-in-progress activities. Liaise with external consultants, Business Energy advisors, and internal teams to ensure a seamless customer journey. Assist in raising purchase orders, processing invoices, and tracking financial expenditures in line with policies and procedures. Support projects aimed at improving customer support mechanisms, internal processes, and data collection. Provide administrative support to the wider BES team, including issuing reports and managing data entry tasks. What you’ll bring Strong time management and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail. Experience using administrative, tracking, and reporting systems. Demonstrable IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook). Ability to liaise confidently with internal and external stakeholders. Financial administration experience, including processing invoices and purchase orders. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, using initiative while following established processes. Strong communication skills and problem-solving abilities.
