We require volunteers to be part of a team to lead, guide, inspire and encourage young people within the CCF at School.
Old Swinford Hospital is one of the country’s leading state boarding schools. A large number of the School’s students are boarders who come from a wide range of backgrounds in the UK and also from the EU and overseas. A third of our pupils are day pupils, who usually go home after lessons, unless they are involved in sport or music, CCF or DofE. The School is now on an exciting journey to become fully co-educational by 2025.
About CCF
Cadets have been parading at OSH since before the First World War. Each Thursday afternoon, some 60 cadets join our army and RAF instructors who, under the guidance of the SSI and CC, guide them through a journey that enriches and brings great benefit to their character and overall development. The CCF operates out of its own ‘hut’ with store room and armoury, whilst a separate firing range is on site.
Beyond the weekly parade and its accompanying activities, residential weekends, shooting competitions and the annual camp at Nescliffe complement the CCF experience at OSH.
Each year, the CCF is represented at Stourbridge’s Remembrance Sunday parade and service, whilst the CCF holds its own annual memorial to OSH pupils who did not return from the World Wars as well as those who died in the Gulf and Afghanistan in more recent times.
All of this means that the CCF is an integral part of life at OSH.
