As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work collaboratively with teachers to provide tailored support for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Your role will involve delivering one-on-one support, guiding small groups, and adapting resources to meet the unique learning needs of each student. You will be an essential part of helping students succeed academically, socially, and emotionally within a mainstream school environment, ensuring they have the tools and support necessary to thrive. Key Responsibilities: Provide personalised support to children with SEND, enabling them to access the full curriculum and make meaningful progress. Assist teachers in the planning and delivery of lessons that are inclusive and cater to a range of learning styles and needs. Foster an inclusive classroom environment by promoting equal opportunities for all students, regardless of their abilities. Support students in building confidence, independence, and developing key life skills. Help manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours while encouraging positive engagement in classroom activities. Required Skills and Experience: Previous experience working with children or adults with SEND, especially those with social, emotional, or learning challenges. Confidence in managing behaviours and using effective strategies to support the individual needs of students. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents. A genuine commitment to creating a nurturing and inclusive learning environment for all children. Preferred Qualifications: Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent). Experience or training in supporting children with Autism, ADHD, or other additional needs is desirable.
